will amount to about $375.00.

The Standard Oil Company of New Jersey has just declared a distribution of $40.00 a share, payable February 15th, which will give you an unexpected sum of $800.00, which you can of course use to pay off any of these subscriptions.

As soon as I receive the Merrimac Chemical Company's warrant from the L. I. L. & T. Co., I will mail it to you, or if it has been mailed to you direct, you can subscribe to it, and make out the check, for which you have plenty of time, as the payment is not due until March 20th. If you have received this direct, I would suggest mailing the warrant and your check to me, as that will show me that the matter has not been overlooked, and will make it simpler all around.

You asked about Mary. She has been overworking for a long time as you probably know & the expected happened at last as it always will, in that she practically broke down. She developed a slight kidney trouble (do not tell anyone else) & the Dr. told her she would either have to take a total rest or it might develop into Brights disease & an early goodbye. If, on the other hand, she gives herself a thoro' rest there is no reason why this trouble should not pass over entirely, so after resting first at Lakehurst until matters were straightened out, she went to Chinsegut & will stay South until April. She is much better already I believe & I had a very cheerful letter from her this morning. Gretchen is there now, as also Eliz. Robins.

Sunday the new station of the Grand Central was opened & I took Nanette there to look at it. It is very fine with a blue sky & the signs of the Zodiac. I like the Pa. better tho!

Yesterday the Men's League & Woman's Suffrage gave a big dinner at the Astor. Hon. Mr. Thomas of Colo. was the best man speaker & Mrs. Snowden of L'd'n was the very best all round. Mary Johnston daughter of Gen'l. Stonewall Johnston was also a speaker & Mrs. Chamber-Aldrich read a poem.

Kate is now settled in her studio & we dined with her last Saturday. There is to be an exhibition of some kind here in the 69th Reg. Armory, to which she intends to loan her van Gogh & two of her own pictures.

With love,
your bro.,
Edw.
