Dear Dodo,

Your letter of the 15th inst. was read some days ago. I was glad to hear from you & that you are able to take such long walks which is much better than I had realized. I had no idea you had been so long without anyone there with you & had I known it, could have arranged for a trip over Sat. & Sunday again. I shall be glad to come up again some time.

We have been very much occupied by keeping both places going & I am glad that we are now settled in the city, altho' it would be lovely during this fine weather to be out in the country. The much needed rain came at last & I hope it will not be too long before we get some more. Ethel is now particularly busy for the balance of the month in raising the money for the Suffrage Party which has prevented her writing you recently.

The financial situation is getting clearer & better but business in most lines is very slow. There are some lines which are benefitted just now by large purchases for the European countries, but that is not enough to offset the let up elsewhere. Should the cotton situation improve that would be a great help & thus one hopes that it will. At present it is still hard to tell how your securities will be affected, the only thing one can do is be careful.
