431 BE: Using ASL isn't easy when you're talking to hearing people. It's even hard to teach in ASL class without getting lost.

Sch for Deaf for about 2 years; back to Texas, to school, after John born; started singing when he was 6. Went to ______ School, then to Gallaudet, graduated 1971; went to work for Govt. as programmer; wife grad. from Gallaudet, works at MSSD.
181 SC to BE: If you're in front of a hearing audience, do you feel sorry for yourself as a deaf person?
BE: Sometimes. Story about wanting to play Little League baseball age 11, going to try out, taking John with him; mother drove them down to tryouts. Suddenly Bill "felt deaf," didn't want to face the people. Mother kicked him out of the car. He's grateful.
