Guild Members Still Save Money
Under the Booksellers' Code

Inquiries have been received from many of our members asking how the Guild service will be affected by the Booksellers' Code of fair competition recently signed by the Administrator. We are pleased to announce that the Code will in no way change the substantial saving offered our members on selections of the Editorial Board, which can still be obtained in the Guild edition at the same standard $2.00 Guild price, even though the retail price of the particular edition may be from $2.50 to $5.00.

In order to meet the Code requirements which prohibit the sale of new books (excepting special editions such as the Guild edition) below the established retail price, it is necessary that the saving under the prepayment plans be applied against the purchase of Guild selections. The $24.00 credit is, therefore, allowed with understanding that at least $8.00 of it will be used for the purchase of Guild selections; similarly the $12.00 credit is allowed with the understanding that at least $4.00 will be used for the purchase of Guild selections.

Prepayment under this plan in no way affects the refusal, substitution, or return privilege on Guild selections. Such Guild selections as you may choose to obtain will be charged against this credit at $2.00 each, regardless of their retail price; other books ordered will be charged at the established retail price.

The following non-Guild books are recommended to you because their timeliness, merit or general popularity make them the outstanding books of the month. Indicate the titles you wish on the enclosed announcement slip.
