day I took photographs with Sol LeWitt and Gretchen Lambert of the tops of some of these ziggurat-type buildings. You see them for the first time and they are really quite remarkable. 
RK The waste land in suburbia is much more dreadful than anything you can see in the city. 
RS: It is like the outskirts of the mind. The city is the center of the mind and then there are [[crossed-out]] is [[/crossed-out]] the suburbs and those unexplored areas. 
AK I am very sensitive to what you're talking about and I'm interested to know how these observations might apply to the museum concept. I'm wondering whether you would accept this statement flat, that museums are literally obsolete for contemporary art. You have a very awkward situation you have countless amounts of funds being applied to museums. The work being produced today seems to me very definitely inappropriate for such sanctuaries. If this is acceptable to you; what is the proper environment for this art? On the top of the ziggurat buildings? I s Nedicks the environment for sculpture? 
RS Art museums are not museums; they are just vacancies that have walls built around them. In a sense they xxx mask certain fears. They are not really what they should be. They are really tombs without anything dead to go in them. I think one of the great dreads of space is the xxx space race. Is it possible that we are really buried in matter and that there is no such thing as space? 
AK It's psychic certainty. It gives people reassurance. The really interesting artists seem preoccupied with the void places.
