Ms. Marcia Marcus
80 North Moore Street
Apartment 32B
New York, New York 10013

Dear Ms. Marcus:

We now have eighteen of your paintings on file at the Catalog of American Portraits. Thank you very much for your contribution to our archives. As you know, inclusion in the CAP is not made on a qualitative basis. If I wrote a letter stating that your work was in the Catalog, it would seem to imply that there is some special significance attached to that fact and the National Portrait Gallery does not promote any living portrait artists. Of course, you can always mention to prospective clients that your work is registered with the CAP.

In lieu of writing a letter, I would like to give your name and address and several examples of your work to the National Portrait Gallery/National Museum of American Art's library. They keep an active record of living portrait artists and are often consulted by individuals wanting to commission a likeness. I will also see that our director, Alan Fern, is made aware of your work.

I hope that you will consider this fair recompense for the slides and information that you shared with the Catalog. Of course, this office will make information on you and your work available to researchers upon request. Again, thank you for you cooperation with the Catalog of American Portraits.

Yours sincerely,
Diane H. Blumenthal [signature]
