with the telegram came 6 charming letters from my mother, and they were the first I knew of that dreadful burning, which was, I suppose, the thing that proved too much for her strength. And I have got other letters from her affectionate and cheerful and telling me that she is getter better and driving out, and that her friends are delightful to her, you among others -
Meanwhile, what may be being done to her in [[?]] Walk today - What my family and sister be hearing and seeing. It is dreadful to be wrong - I regret deeply not having returned long ago - I had no idea that after the ear was cured this other thing had happened -
