[[note]] Sept. 1915 [[/note]]

I have enjoyed your letter of Nov. 20-, with all its news of people I care for- What is this pain in Emily's arm that I never heard of? isn't that sometimes a symptom of heart disease- she never has shown any tendency that way so I hope it is only rheumatism - The paper day before yesterday reported

and my interest in it waned when I saw that it was developing into a ghost story. I dare say it is a very smooth and ingenious one, but a ghost story seems an awful come down.

I am glad my letter about Forbes helped the cause- I was afraid of having overdone the innocent spontaneous look in my shyness at deeming to furnish a "testimonial", silly squeamishness no doubt. They would be fools not to keep him on - and I am afraid he might have rather a hard time without that steady supply -

I hope you'll get to like your new home- I hope you are understanding with Lady Lewis.

Yrs ever
John S. Sargent
