Feb. 21 - 1916

I wonder how You are getting on in the trenches - Here it is rather like being in them for just now, 6.15, there are guns booming and the sky is full of search lights - I wonder if it is a raid or if it is the alarm practice  They told us not to be alarmed.  Is pity to abolish the first act - I don't believe my suggestion of bypassing things with the drunk scene was a good one -

I have taken my passage on the "Niew Amsterdam" March 20th from Falmouth - and am sending my things on before that by the "New York" - I hope you'll be getting leave in a few weeks.

I don't know if rather is actually caller or not. I really think the name of the ship is spelled "Nieuw" Amsterdam.
