It is quite natural that Emily has put off coming till after Easter - and it is so cold here that it will be better for her - there has been ice and snow on the streets for weeks.

I have lots to do meanwhile in waiting for her - a big new decoration to plan - architecture as well as painting - that, thanks to the good effect of my library ceiling which is at last shown. The total effect is better than I hoped, and it doesn't matter if the individual paintings are good or bad - I hope you will see it one of these days when the war is over and one can travel - and Mr Wilson has been rat poisoned.

George Moore on Henry James is not more silly or more revolting than usual. H would take his own pen to mention the particular form of utterance, usually involuntary, that he indulges in several times on every page - There ought to be a volume of extracts called, say, Trumpetings from George Moore -

Whereas-

I had a long sad letter from [[?]] the other day - but his eyes must be much better for he is working hard at some womans decoration - he doesn't say what.

I hope all will go well with you.

Yrs ever
