I was very glad to get your cable, and to know that you are safe from that raid - & that the de Glehns were with you——

I am afraid that my not having written lately must seem very unfeeling - if I had been with you, you would know I am not - but attempts at writing seemed hollow and useless. The war interest 

Violet & the boys - Everything is a puzzle - & this plan depends somewhat on my being able to get a big studio in Boston -

I am at a loss to know what to do -

Please write me, even if you feel hurt at my not having written in so long -
