Dec. 22nd 1917
HOTEL VENDOME
Commonwealth Ave. Boston

It was thoughtful of you to cable us about Mrs Curtis & Accord, since then I got a letter from Jane, and yesterday one from Ralph of Nov 17th from Florence reporting endless difficulties in getting Lamfords for himself & his mother to go to the [[Villa Sylvia?]] – His letter was not censored - if it had been the prospects of getting a passport at all would have dwindled – such a pathetic

for I see you have written these out. Shame on the people who will [[?]] old Burlington Street.

I wonder whether Hogarth's house is one that belonged to [[?]], & that there was a question about his right to demolish or dismantle - the home was beautiful, but the street a slum in the midst of [[?]], that would be a daily vexation, and would probably lead to your giving it up, and not being able to get rid of it –

This is [[?]] time & I wish I were in London.

Yrs ever
