Parish Gallery is pleased to present "ONE of FIFTEEN" the first exhibition to commemorate the gallery's 15th year. This exhibition will open with a reception from 6:00-8:00 pm on Friday, December 2, 2005 and will run through January 10, 2006.

Exhibiting will be: Floyd Coleman, Victor Ekpuk, Ron Flemmings, Liani Foster, Naza McFarren, Roberto Morassi, Deana Schwartzberg, Stephanie Parrish Taylor, and Yvette Watson. These artists represent an array of works and creative inspirations.

This collection of work is in may cases inspired by nature, some realistic and some depicted abstractly. Living forms, foliage or four legged creatures, they are represented in thought-provoking colorful compositions. Graceful movements and fluid sounds are captured as vibrant, unique and stimulating performances. By fusing varied objects others captivate the viewer. Some pieces incorporate old and new to create the imaginative by using symbols and objects and merging these with already made materials. Contrasting, yet complementary forms, unite to produce textural symbols where history and present converge. Each of the works in this exhibition represents the artist's individual vision and the experiences that have shaped them.

Beginning with this exhibition we will be having group shows from now until June of 2006 in celebration of this 15th year. All the artists to be shown have lived and traveled within and outside of the United States. The works of all of the artists to be shown in this and all of the upcoming exhibitions are a representation of a transnational aesthetic celebration. Influenced by the colors, textures and natural environments of India, Ghana, Brazil, Kenya, Nigeria, Uruguay, Japan, Turkey, Haiti, Santa Domingo, Russia, Greece, and the United States, their works of art appeal to the viewer's eye and also others senses are stimulated.

There will be an artists' talk on Saturday, December 3, 2005 from 5:00 to 6:00 pm with several of the artists present.
