Hi Gerry-,

I'll mail this tomorrow morning as I think I'll go to the dock & see Mo off. He's driving down with Joedi. All's well here - right now it's quite exciting - there's a very very strong wind from the north blowing in great gusts, and the bells by the door are singing away - they are ever so happy! Are they ever! (sic.) (n.b.)

Mo left a couple hours ago after having supper here - he brought a huge ham steak (which he cooked the perfect way - fried in some water & pineapple juice in a pan.) With it we had 4 ears of corn from the garden & about 6 ears from his, and potatoes (boiled, then halved & spread with herb butter (butter [[strikethrough]] mixed [[/strikethrough]] creamed with chopped parsley & savory & dill))) <- (This one's extra.)

Got your letter - glad about your pleasant trip & much upset by news of refrig. & radio. Consequently I wrote a letter to H. & gave him hell about his carelessness tho I was sure also to commend him for getting place cleaned up. Does radio work?

Started working in casein last Monday on the paper that guy (Karlin?) left me. Have a whole dozen done but only a few are any good as the medium (on 10x14 paper) eludes me - it isn't intense enough for such large a picture. Wish I had a good set of tube watercolors. Today I combined caseins with black ink & the dark values helped very much. Am doing a series on trees in rain. Just came naturally. Yesterday, as I looked out at the spruces in the rain. Am very happy over theme & treatment.
