Mon eve.

Hi.

Rain rain rain rain. It started Sat. night and
hasn't stopped. Oh but it is cold & damp, soggy & boggy,
and windy. What a long, chilly wind! from the East & North, and I think the east end of the House is happy - it never got its shingles [[strikethrough]] went [[/strikethrough]] wet before this!

The only good thing about this weather is I can wear my [[image 2]] & go to the store & p.o. & walk through puddles & puddles. It is 42 [[degree symbol]]! It was lower last night. I've had the fire going for 2 days & by keeping the bathrm, attic & bedrm & studio doors closed, the liv. rm. is fairly warm.

I started doing a lot of drawings Sat. nite in the liv. rm.

I've been eating corned beef & fresh tomatoes for 2 days. Tonight I shall boil a pot of rice to last me the next week. Mealtime is so lonely. Especially when I have to keep the fire going & walk all the way back for salt, & again when the kettle boils.

Last nite I had a kind of nightmare type dream - don't remember what. When I woke from it I reached for you instinctively & when I realized I was all alone I was immensely lonely.

There is no one on the island! It is absolutely deserted. I shall go to Lobster Cove to sketch tomorrow if the sun comes out.

The [[image 3]] poppies arrived today. (!!) I am [[strikethrough]] g [[/strikethrough]] so very glad! I shall plant them tomorrow. They
