Dear Miss Ward —

Many thanks for your warm and generous note; I like your gallery the most, not only as the most beautiful physically, but as the one whose character and purposes I find the most sympathetic, and I would be delighted to show with you — there is nothing I would like more, and would be glad to shake hands on it.

I do have some previous commitments, which I hope you will find unobjectionable. The first is minor, to show some drawings this summer at the former Kootz Gallery in Provincetown — one of the new partners has collected my work for a long time.
