country, with many pretty brooks. The towns, we passed seemed to become smaller and more picturesque.
On the train we met two ladys who were going to St. Ives and advised us to make St. Ives our headquarters instead of Penzance
as we had intended. They recommened  [[recommended]] to us the lodgings they were going to, which, they told us, were very primitive, because you had to buy your own food and have the people cook it for you. To reach St. Ives, we had to change trains at St. Erth. At St. Erth we found it was to late to change the arrangement of our
luggage which we had checked to Penzance and so were obliged to go on. We did not particularly
mind for the scenery was beautiful and we passed Mount St. Michael which juts into the bay of Penzance and looked very impressive
against the sky. Reaching Penzance and finding the next train back to St. Ives did not leave till half past six P.M. and having two hours to spare we left our luggage in the
cloakroom and wonder about the town
