it very refreshing after the train. Once in awhile if you looked sharp you could see mysterious cool pools under the slate banks almost obscured from sight by undergrowth. From the top of the hills the sea came into view and though it was cloudy the sun poured through, making a bright patch of gold on the water.

On the kind recommendation of some friends we were able to find very pleasant rooms in an Inn near the coast. We had a beautiful view of the ruins of the legendary King Aurther's castle from our windows.

I could imagine the knights of old trooping up and down the steep, high banked road leading to the two crags where the castle is situated and at one time connected by a drawbridge. Now all that is left of the castle is the crumbled walls, a large flat stone in the chapel used for the communion table and the slight remains of the chapel grave yard. In order to see the interior it is necessary to ask for the key to unlock the old hobbed nailed wooden door at the end of a narrow rocky path ascending the cliff. Placed over the doorway is a
