After dinner we walked about the town a bit and decided it was a charming place. We met with the name of Shakespeare on every hand.

July 28, 1908.

Tuesday afternoon we hired a boat and rowed down the river about a mile to the mill and could go no further. The river bank just above the mill, is the high stone wall of the Parish church grave yard shaded by a row of beautiful trees that Gifford stopped to sketch. The grave yard is the prettiest I have ever seen. 
Stratford with the beautiful little Avon running through it and it's wide streets and houses of Elizabethan architecture is a lovely town. 
Although we had a very jolly time in London it was fine to be in the country again.

July 28, 1908.

Wednesday morning we rowed up the river past the town of Tintern to a picturesque place, where we pulled the boat ashore and landed. At an Elizabethan cottage, in a little room looking into a merry garden we had our lunch. We both thought in what a happy way we were travelling
