August 3, 1908.
Monday morning, equipped with sketching material, we set off for Kenilworth to see the castle.

The town was dusty, hot and insignificant but it was a bank holiday, so there were plenty of people about.

We walked from the station to the Castle, and on reaching it were contented to sit in the shade by the fine old ruins before getting to work. It was well past noon when the sketch was finished for it was late when started.

Near the Castle gate is the Cafe tea garden where we stopped to have lunch, before going home.

Tuesday, lunch just over, we started off to Nottingham and arrived there late in the afternoon. It seems to be a railroad center and of not much interest to us, so we decided to spend the night at the Victoria Hotel and go on to Edwinstowe the next day.
