The passage back from Bergen to Newcastle-on-Tyne was very rough and everyone was very glad to get on land once more.

August 28, 1908.

A cruise among the Fjords is well worth taking, for there is no other country quite like Norway. The color of the water is of different shades of emerald even the inland lakes.

August 29, 1908.

Saturday afternoon we left Newcastle for Carlisle.

August 30, 1908.

Sunday afternoon we took a walk to the Castle. The bed of the moat around the castle is still there, but the water has been drained away. The drawbridge over the moat has been replaced by a stone bridge, but the drop gate, that was used in time of attack, still remains to reinforce
