September 10, 1908.
Although it was still bad weather, we decided to go ou, and so Thursday morning took the train for Inverness. The atmosphere was clear, so we could see through the rain. We crossed two or three high bridges and could look down on the quaint towns, and then [[accruded?]] a pass through the Highlands. The scenery was wild and beautiful and the hills covered with purple heather. At the top of the pass the streams lie stagnant and then begin running in the opposite direction. 

On reaching Inverness, we had just time enough to walk down to the river. It had cleared somewhat and there was a soft light on everything. We enjoyed very much, looking at the town from the banks of the river and could see the Castle on the height and the Cathedral a short distance from it.
