Well, to go back to the church, it had originally been one, but now is partitioned off into two. The west part which is considered the oldest is of Norman architecture and has no organ. Mary Queen of Scots was crowned here and also James the sixth who afterwards became James the first of England. At one end is the balcony where the royalty sat and in a little adjoining room is the wooden altar that John Knox preached his last sermon from. The last part is of Gothic architecture and has a beautiful window by Burn Jones The colors are chiefly brown and gold and it can be seen just as plainly at a distance as close by. The style is very broad and effective.
