Just beside the Glasgow Art Galleries, that we were on our way to see, is a bowling green and we stopped to watch the sport.

The Galleries have some fine pictures, but the most beautiful is a portrait of Thomas Carlisle by Whistler. It's simplicity and naturalness impresses one at once. Whistler painted it after the style of a portrait of his mother but he could never get the same feeling in it for the one was of a person he dearly loved.

The famous Mrs. Patrick Campbell and her daughter were playing in the Thunderbolt that evening, so we went to see her. She was a quaint, sweet one with little touches of humor to releive the sadness. Mrs. Campbell
