all night going down with the wind on my back but coming toward Cornwall it was simply awful. There was a cold north wind blowing and it was bitter. I was mighty glad to get back to the Cornwall station. The last two days have been quite profitable to me and I am so glad I came up.

I met Bert coming home from Cornwall and he asked me if I was coming up to the New Years dance at the Club. Whats the use. If you were going to be there it would be different but as it is I dont think I'll go.

Anyway I like to be at home New Years eve to see the old year

Dearest Girl

I am just leaving Newburgh on the train after a very pleasant three days. I spent two nights out to the Lake and had such a beautiful time talking with the folks. They were so very kind to me and took such good care my room should be kept warm when I went to bed and in the morning. It was just fine to get out there in the bright crisp air after New York life. When I left this morning there was a fine sheet of ice on the lake six inches thick and Homer and I wanted to go ice boating but there was no wind so we had to give it up. Your mother and I talked about you a great deal.
