Dearest Girl

I am writing on the train on my way to Newburgh again. The weather has moderated very nicely and it is clear with full moon light nights; just ideal weather for sketching out of doors. I make these frequent trips to Newburgh for the reason that I want to keep in close touch with nature and study her more and more untill I get some thing of her meaning. It is a long long study and a hard one. Then the painting that I did even a month or two ago looks so bad that I some times get a little discouraged. However I feel now that I am painting at present better than any time in my life.

of time to think about you in fact both of us because when I think of you I most always think of myself too because we seem to belong together and I always think of my luck in getting such a fine girl as you are. I was so afraid of some of those other men I heard liked you and when I learned you liked me and even loved me I was absolutely happy and have been ever since. When I get your letters I am as happy as a lark all day and they do me so much good.

With all my love

Gifford
