Darling Girl

I have just returned from Newburgh having spent just one night up there. I thought I might have a chance to go out to the lake but couldn't find the time for which I was very sorry. I spent the whole afternoon down in the Highlands and it was perfectly beautiful. You know the river is frozen solid so that I could walk way out on the ice and view the mountain from different points. It was such a beautiful clear day and the snow was the whitest thing I have ever seen. I thought

terrible old grumbly bachelor with no one to love. Now I have you to love and its made all the difference in the world to me. I have felt happier and stronger and whenever I feel the blues coming on I think that I will see you soon and they fly away quick. I am so anxious to see those favorite places you want to show me. You always pick out such nice places. Well you know that's your good taste cropping out.

I hope there will be a letter from you when I get down to the studio tomorrow morning. I am always anxious to hear from you and whenever I expect a letter and one don't come I feel badly

Good night
My own Sweetheart
Lovingly Gifford
