Mr. Thomas Beggs, Director
National Collection of Fine Arts
Smithsonian Institution
Washington, D. C.

Dear Mr. Beggs:

Mr. Clark has asked me to write and request permission to borrow two paintings: CONNECTICUT WOODS by Henry Ward Ranger, N.A. and BRADBURY'S MILL POND, No. 2 By Henry Ward Ranger, N.A. for the H. W. Ranger Centennial Exhibition, September 24 through October 12. The Academy would of course pay all cost of shipping, insurance, etc. to and from Washington. They would be sent to Berkeley Express & Moving Co., 526 West Broadway by September 12 to be uncrated and brought to the Academy, or if the other paintings for the exhibition are to be brought by van to New York perhaps these could be included.

The Academy trusts that this loan will meet with approval as it will greatly enhance the introduction to the exhibition. Thanking you for your cooperation, I am,

Sincerely yours,

Director

N.B. May we have the list of current members of the Fine Arts Commission for the catalog.
