My precious Mother—

Words fail me so completely as I try to express to you my thoughts that I do not know how to thank you for the love and generosity that you have shown me. I was so surprised yesterday morning when I called Knoxville and heard your sweet night message in which you told me that you had forwarded a check to reimburse my accounts. I really did not expect or want you to do it; for I fear it may be depriving you of something.  I have carefully planned our expenses and I now see that I will be able to apply all of my July dividends, both yours and those from the Fund so that if I receive the same amount that I did last quarter, I will be able to pay the whole indebtedness in July! This, I hope will please you. 

We go to Washington June [[strikethrough]] ly [[/strikethrough]] first as I think I told you and although Bennett doesn't have to report until the 18th we are going to look into the housing situation. We are considering taking a small apartment for six months or so in order to "recoup" and get one or two dividends ahead. This may not be the
