Better than the last one, I hope. Will you ever forget her describing the rain — and the wig!

I simply cannot understand why Mrs Mulhall doesn't train Jerry to write letters. He most certainly should write to you. She sent me a telegram as I think I told you - apologizing for not writing and sending expressions of gratitude and love. We shouldn't condemn, though, people seldom ever measure up to our human standards.

Mother says your house is progressing with leaps and bounds — I hope to see it when it's done — a way may open whereby it will be possible for me to go West for a visit later on.

I want to scribble off a few lines to Mother so I'll close.

We've just had one whale of a lightening and thunder storm which always frightens poor little Schnitzel out of his wits. He is now curled up at my feet under the desk.

He became so frightened on the Fourth of July — he did a thing he has never done before — after one enormous "pop" of a firecracker — he jumped up on the bed and curled up at Bennetts head, as close as he could get and put his head on his shoulder!

Will write again in a day or so. now that I am quite settled I'll have much much more time for letters

Much much love
Jane
