Personally appeared before me this 22 day of Novbr 1866 John Dee, who having been duly sworn deposes as follows.

My name is John Dee, I live at Mitchellville, Tenn. In March 1864 Ben Roney, living at Mitchellville, Tenn with whom I was employed told me to light a fire. I did not start the moment he told me. He then said he would not hire me nor pay me. I then threw down my axe. He Roney then went into his house and got his gun and as I was walking towards the house, he shot me part of the discharge going into my arm, back and leg.

Doctor Walton attended me. Roney said he would do the same thing again, if I ever refused to do anything.
