Albert Butcher's Affidavit States that he saw 30 or 40 cold soldiers on May 1 1866 near the cor. of Causey & South Sts who were making considerable noise. Recorder Creighton with 3 or 4 police arrived then at that time when Creighton ordered the police to arrest the soldiers. they refused to be arrested offering no resistance there was then firing commenced [[strikethrough]] by [[/strikethrough]] who fired first could not tell He (Butcher) then started up Main St when he was overtaken by the crowd who fired on him several times they were headed by Police
