Before me personally appeared the undersigned H.R. Simmons and being duly sworn deposes as follows:

My Name is H.R. Simmons. I live in the City of Memphis Tenn. On the night of the 2" of May 1866 Seven men came to my house broke in and took from me one gold watch and chain worth 300$. They took from a man in the house with me $75 worth of Clothing. I would know the men if I was to see them One man had a wooden Leg and one was a policeman. I know him and can get his number. They also took from me $5.00 in Silver. They threatened to kill me and said they were going to burn up the Freedmens Bureau and run the General out of the City.
