Before me personally appeared the undersigned Adam Lock and being duly sworn deposes as follows. 

My Name is Adam Lock  I live in the City of Memphis Ten  On the morning of the 2" of May 1866, during the riot in this City seeing a number of houses burning in the vecinity of Main St I came [[strikethrough]] came [[/strikethrough]] out and found my own on fire. There was a number of White persons near my house who were Committing these depradations  When I went to put out the fire Some commenced Shooting at me. I ran into the house. They ordered [[strikethrough]] me out [[/strikethrough]] me and my family to leave and that dam quick. John Coleman and George McGuir were two of the party that were there  John McGuir said he could not help burning the house - that the party would kill him if he did not. Coleman and Geo McGuir appeared to be the leaders of the gang. 

The room occupied by me in the house belonged to Mr F. Feldman and five more houses belonging to myself near by were burned together with all my furniture  Loss $1100.
