Before me personally appeared the undersigned George Willis and being duly sworn to deposes as follows

My name is George Willis am a discharged Soldier  I live in the City of Memphis Tenn on the night of the 1st day of May 1866. I was going to Fort Pickering to keep out of the way of rioters  on my way I met four White men  they halted me and asked if I had been a Soldier I answered "Yes" they then asked me if I had any Money. I told them I had my Pocket Book, they then Commenced Searching me took from my Pocket $70.00 in Money and a Watch that I gave $50.00 for.
