Before my personally appeared the undersigned and being duly sworn deposes as follows

My name is F. K. Stillman I live in the County of Crittenden and State of Arkansas was in the City of Memphis during the riot. On the 4" day of May 1866 I hired a colored man named Adam Jones to work for me at about 2 Oclock P.M. while waiting for a boat to cross the river a policeman came up and arested the said Jones and took him away with him. I saw him searching him and I supposed he had arrested on the supposition of his carrying concealed weapons. I started up into the City a short time afterward and saw the man "Adam coming back I asked him what was the matter and he told me that the police had robbed him of $160.00
I made complaints to a detective and he arrested a man whom Adam identified as one of the men who robbed him this was at the Station house. While there the policeman drew a revolver on Adam and said he had a good mind to blow his head off
