Green Collier (cold) being under oath doth depose and say that he is a free person of color that he is about twenty three years old, that he resides at Smyrna, Rutherford County, Tennessee. That he boards at the house of Alex Hudson (cold) and is engaged in teaching a colored school - that on the evening of Saturday Aug 25th 1866, Peter F. Hagar and Thomas Farmer came to the house of Alex Hudson, and attacked one Charles Nicks (cold) who was intoxicated and lying on the bed, said Thomas Farmer cutting said Charles Nicks on the neck and stabing him in the abdomen with a knife, said Thomas Farmer being also armed with a gun - that said Charles Nicks was so intoxicated as to be unable to defend himself, and that said Peter F. Hagar and Thomas Farmer were both intoxicated. Further that Mary Cooper (cold) was present in the house and heard all the difficulty and saw the stabing; and further that said Peter F. Hagar lives in Smyrna and said Thomas Farmer lives in the country near Smyrna, Rutherford County
