Personally appeared before me a Justice of the Peace for the State and County aforesaid Samuel Voorhies col'd of Maury County who being duly sworn according to law says, that he lives on the Shelbyville pike just outside the Columbia Corporation limits, that on the evening of the 20th of January 1868 a party of mounted, armed undisguised men calling themselves "Kuklux" called him (Sam) from his bed upon which he lay sick and asked him to what society he belonged & what ticket he voted, saying also they knew what society he belonged to and what ticket he voted, that if he (Sam) did not vote with them at the next election, he would go up, that they would be around again in a few nights and would give him hell if he did not go with them. That he (Sam) was asked how much money was coming to the Nigger Soldiers, and upon being told that he (Sam) did not know they said they knew every cent.
Sworn to and subscribed before me this 21st day of January 1868.
