Directly above we enter the Western Addition from its eastern side. Japantown is represented by the Sokoji, the Buddhist church, and a torii, or gate, symbolizing the Japanese Cultural Center. Wind socks in the traditional shapes of flying carp vault the scene chasing the tail streamer of the Jefferson Airplane which is flying toward the Fillmore Auditorium.

At the top of the drum is the Civic Center. The interior of the Opera House shows Seiji Ozawa conducting the symphony orchestra who remain attentive even though opera stars boistrously [[boisterously]] rehearse and ballet dancers perform incredible leaps over their heads. The Nutcracker whose "Suite" they are performing appears on the right in front of the important box seats. Angels blowing trumpets appear on the rim above.
