Agency Links Artists With Business World

By Ursula Vils
Times Staff Writer

What an agent is to an actor or writer, Evanne Flora and Joyce Hunsaker are to artists.

The two energetic women are the president and chairman of the board, respectively of Art Expo, a Beverly Hills company that commissions artists to do works for specific architectural and interior design projects.

It started about three years ago, Miss Flora explained in a pell-mell conversation, punctuated by comments from Miss Hunsaker, in their combination office-gallery-home in Beverly Hills, a spacious, vintage flat filled, appropriately and tastefully, with contemporary paintings, sculpture, rugs and weavings by their client artists.

"Joyce was in the art business in the commercial end," Miss Flora said with a nod toward her partner, "and aware of the artist's need for additional exposure. She also had friends in the interiors end of things and knew of their problems in finding good art for design projects.

"I was in the music business—A&M Records—and I saw how proper management of artists let them do their craft.

"We spent two years in research to find up-and-coming artists."
