Assistant Commissioner's Office,
[[strikethrough]] Nashville, [[/strikethrough]] Memphis Tenn., June 6th 1866

General

The Congressional Committee close their inquiry to day and leave for Washington tomorrow. I have rendered the Committee all the aid in my power to give: believing that their report would be more complete than all others. The Evidence taken before both Commissions, that of Genl Stoneman's and ours, will be made a part of their record. I will forward you synopsis of facts proven in a day or two. The Com have been through in their investigation, and when the public see[[strikethrough]] s [[/strikethrough]] their report, they will wonder why no one is punished for committing so great wrongs. I go to Nashville to morrow

Very Respectfully - Yr Obt Servt
