Before me personally appeared the undersigned Wesley Ware and being duly Sworn deposes as follows..

My Name is Wesley Ware. I live in the City of Memphis Tenn. On the night of the 2" of May 1866 while I was trying to keep my house from getting afire from another house near mine some persons entered my House and Said to my wife Marthy Ware that they had orders to search my house [[crossed out]] and they robbed [[/crossed out]] for fire arms. My wife opened all the Trunks and drawers for them to search and they robbed from me money Jewelry &c to the amount of One hundred and fifty ($150.) dollars 

I think the men were Policeman but could not tell certain as I could not see any Stars. I Saw the men enter the house and go out again while I was on top
