Before me personally appeared the undersigned Albert Harriss and being duly sworn deposes as follows,

My name is Albert Harriss  I live in the city of Memphis Tenn on the Cor of Winchester and Ala Streets, on the night of the 2nd day of May 1866 a man unknown to me accompanied by seven or eight others among whom were two policemen knocked at my door demanding entrance which was immediately granted, the leader a small man with a mustache and long hair said he was a detective and Came to search for arms, I said I had nothing but an old shot gun, which he was welcome to  he would not believe me however and immediately proceeded to search the house, with his pistol at my head he compelled me to unlock personal trunks and chests pretending to be looking for pistols, he Came to the one containing my money and took therefrom, threehundred fifty dollars in greenbacks gold and Silver, as soon as he obtained the muney he Ceased searching for arms, and told
