Before me personally appeared the undersigned Lummon Davis and upon being duly sworn deposes as follows.
My name is Lummon Davis. I live in the City of Memphis Tenn in that portion portion called Chelsea on Third Street near Green close to Mr Jeromes clothing store on the evening of the 3d of May 1866, a man called Jerry (I think his name is Jerry Erwright) and three more men came to my house and broke in the doors I escaped while they were trying to get in, and went to Second Street at a store near there in the same square, the same man (Jerry) came there and shot at me three times. he was riding a sorrel horse the man in the store saw him shoot at me. I can procure the name of the man that keeps the store
