Before me personally appeared the undersigned Monroe Jones and being duly sworn deposes as follows
My name is Monroe Jones. I live in the city of Memphis Tenn on the evening of the 1st day of May 1866 as my father was locking his shop (blacksmith shop) on the corner of Main and Tolbert Streets, some policemen came up and one of them shot him through the eye. he is not dead, but is in a very critical condition Policemen Roach is one of the men
My fathers name is William Jones. the next night they set the shop on fire but did not burn it up, as we stopped the fire.
