Before me personally appeared the undersigned Lanzie Gillian and being duly sworn deposeth as follows
My name is Lanzie Gillian I live in the County of Shelby and state of Tenn about six miles from the city of Memphis I was formerly a servant of Genl Harlbut. on the night of May 2nd 1866 I was on Beal Street when a party of policemen and white men came up to me and one of them knocked me down with a gun and robbed me of (246) two hundred and forty six Dolls, and a gold ring that I paid ten dollars and fifty cents for I had just come from the country that evening after a wagon and some forage.
