Before me personally appeared the undersigned Henry Alexander and upon being duly sworn testifies as follows.
M name is Henry Alexander I live in the City of Memphis, on the 2nd day of May 1866 during the night of the riot about 2 or 3 O'clock A.M. a number of persons set fire to a Black Smith Shop and Wood house owned by myself and George Jones which with their fixtures was entirely burned up our loss amounts to $300.00
