Maj Grey was not informed of the existence of the first board within referred to. and convinced that attempts were being made to deprive him of his right of promotion of Lt. Col. after he had been before a board of examination at Granville East Tenn. & had been recommended for promotion to rank of Colonel. decline to go before a board arranged as he believed to promote the interest of Capt Brown at his expense. Maj Grey did not ask or desire to go before the last board, no obstacles were placed in his way. The 1" U.S.C. Art. (Hy) has been mustered out. April 19" 1866. Respectfully returned to Col. C.W. Foster A.A.G. whose attention is invited to endorsement of Maj Grey & Genl. Tillson in this case (sd) O.O.H. M.G.C. |
