Deposition of Mr. H.P. Dortch

On Monday the 4th day of June 1866 in the forenoon passing by a store kept by a Mr. Wagoner I met Mr. Moses who drew my attention to some negroes who were in conversation in front of this store; he (Mr. Moses) asked me to go and see who they were.

I did so, and found Bryant Langston, who was the only one I knew, he Bryant said "he was afraid of no God Damn white man, he was good for four of them" and then I walked on.

I, H.P. Dortch do solemnly swear that the above statement is true to the best of my knowledge and belief.

H.P. Dortch
