Head Quarters. 2nd Regt Pa Res. Corps.
Fairfax Station Va
May 30th 1865.

Major

It gives me great pleasure to testify to your character as an Officer and gentleman during your connection with the service.

From the date of our Regimental organization when you were 2nd Lieut. your uniform good conduct in the engagements in which you participated raised you through the successive grades of Adjutant, Captain and Major.

I regret exceedingly that the nature of your wounds rendered you unfit for active service and compelled your discharge, and hope sincerely you may be tendered a position in the Invalid Corps. having a personal knowledge of your capacity to fill the position with credit alike to yourself and the Govermt.

With best wishes for your success, I remain Your old comrade and friend,
(over.)
